Institutional Grants Audits

VS050 Martin Hogeboom 2025 10 01

An institutional grant is a grant awarded to support the ongoing activities of an organisation. Unlike a project grant, which is aimed at a specific project or initiative, an institutional grant supports the regular operations and objectives of an organisation over a longer period of time.

Institutional grants are common in healthcare, education, cultural institutions, social organisations and other non-profit organisations. The grant contributes to the continuity of the organisation and the achievement of societal objectives.

Institutional grants can be used for, among other things:
  • Ongoing social and community activities;
  • Education and knowledge development;
  • Healthcare and welfare services;
  • Culture and heritage initiatives;
  • Advocacy and social support programmes;
  • Continuous service delivery to target groups.

Institutional grants are often subject to conditions regarding the use of funds and financial accountability. Organisations must be able to demonstrate that the grant funding received has been spent lawfully and in accordance with the grant award. Depending on the grant scheme, a grant audit or an audit of the annual financial statements may be required.

VHM Grant Audit performs audits of your organisation’s financial accountability. In this way, we provide assurance to grant providers and help organisations comply with all accountability requirements.
